    What is Google Drive?

    Google Drive is an online, cloud based storage and synchronization solution by Google. It is free to sign up for a Gmail account. You can store any type of file including photos, PDF files, and documents. You can share files with other Google accounts as well as edit any documents online with Google Drive applications. If you use multiple devices and want to have access to your Google Drive, you can access it with a web browser or download an app if it’s an Apple or android device.

    Documents, Spreadsheets, Slideshows

    Within Google Drive, you can create folders, documents, spreadsheets, and slideshows using Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides.

    Google Docs is very similar to the word processing application Microsoft Word. With Google Docs, you can also edit any documents you upload that were created with Microsoft Word as well as create new documents.

    Google Sheets is a spreadsheet application much like Microsoft Excel. Like Google Docs, you can create new spreadsheets and edit any Excel spreadsheets that you upload to your Google Drive.

    Google Slides is a presentation program like Microsoft PowerPoint. Like the other Google Drive Apps, Google Slides lets you create new presentations and edit PowerPoints that you have in your Google Drive.

    How to use Google Drive

    From any Windows or Mac computer, you can access Google Drive from a web browser like Google Chrome.

    1.       Open a web browser and go to drive.google.com and login in to your Gmail account.

    2.       If you used the Google Drive Website, you will be redirected to your Drive.
    If you signed in using your Gmail account, click on the small squares up by your account name and click Drive in the app menu to go to your Drive.

    If you have a mobile device such as an iPad, you can access your Google Drive from the free Google Drive app that can be downloaded from the App Store.

    1.       After downloading the Google Drive app, open the app.

    2.       Sign in with your Gmail account.

    3.       You will then see everything in your Google Drive.

    Note: To edit anything in your Google Drive from your iPad or other mobile device, you will need to install the Google app that you need (i.e. Google Docs, Google Sheets, or Google Slides)
