• Professional Development:

Cambria Heights SD will participate in focused and sustained professional development utilizing focus groups / professional dialogue, and direct training workshops addressing research-based and validated methods to improve the quality of instruction to meet the needs of students with disabilities participating in the general education curriculum. The district will utilize the research-based and validated resources to facilitate professional dialogue and help professional staff provide effective instruction to all Cambria Heights students. Professional and administrative staff  have already been trained in components of the Supplementary Aids and Services (SaS) Considerations Process and Toolkit in which participants learned to examine student and environmental data to develop a specific student and learning environment profile. Participants then worked in groups to project potential barriers to access to the general education curriculum and regular education setting, and then recommend strategies to overcome these barriers. Emphasis was placed on appropriate planning and evaluation of supports.
