I am the 7th Grade Geography teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. I recently joined the Cambria Heights Middle School staff full-time in January of 2018. I am a 2016 graduate of Mount Aloysius College in which I studied Secondary Education - History/Political Science. Along with teaching Geography, I am in charge of Chess Club, coach Junior High Football, and coach Junior Varsity Baseball here at Cambria Heights.
The story of the world begins with geography – the study of the earth in all of its variety. We will study how geography describes the earth’s land, water, and plant and animal life, as well as places and the complex relationships between people and their environment. The goal of this class is to have a well-rounded understanding of the world and its people, and develop applicable life skills that will help students succeed as they continue their secondary education in order to prepare them for life beyond the classroom. An example of these skills include reading a map, recognizing physical geographic features, analyzing informative text, and understanding different cultures.
Students will be completing a large variety of assignments throughout the year in which points will differ. Grades will be calculated using the points earned / total points formula. Students are responsible for making up the work they missed while absent. If an assignment is not turned in on time, points will be deducted.
Lastly, I post assignments and homework on our Google Classroom page. This is a great resource if students would need to access video links, homework, and other class materials away from school. Feel free to contact me about Google Classroom information.
