The Accelerated Reader program has been in use in our school for about a decade. The students read books and take tests on those books to earn points. The student has to have at least a 60% average to earn any points and the number of points earned depends on the number of points a book is worth and the number of questions answered correctly. For example, if the book is worth 1 point and the student answers 8 questions out of 10 correctly, he will earn .8 points with an 80% average. Students are to maintain at least a 75% average, but are encouraged to maintain at least an 85% average.

At each grade level there are goals that the students are working towards to earn incentives.
